A Dream Turned Reality – Meet Michael Chen
Since 2014, Pathways on Pleasure Valley has been owned and operated by Michael Chen — an inspiring entrepreneur who left a high-paying academic and marketing career to follow a childhood dream of living and working with horses.
Michael first fell in love with horses as a child watching Western films with his father in Taiwan. After immigrating to Canada at age 12, he never forgot that dream. At 37, he took a bold leap — giving up a secure career to take over the reins of Pathways. With no guarantee of success, he invested his time, heart, and savings into building a unique horse farm that reflects his values of passion, purpose, and perseverance.
Michael believes that true horsemanship is not about control, but about cooperation, understanding, and trust — between horse and rider, and between people. His approach has shaped every aspect of the farm, from how horses are trained to how guests are welcomed. He often says, “The moment I wasn’t afraid to lose what I had, I gained everything.”
Today, Pathways on Pleasure Valley stands out as one of the most beloved riding destinations in Ontario, known for its welcoming atmosphere, personalized approach, and commitment to horsemanship.
